Geography

Geographical Location

Between Stuttgart and Ulm, on the western edge of the district Göppingen, the town of Zell is below 384 m above sea Aichelberglifte. NN in close proximity to the Swabian Alb surrounded by the still numerous existing orchards.

Neighboring communities

Borders the following municipalities: Hattenhofen, Göppingen - Bezgenriet, Bad Boll, Aichelberglifte, Ohmden and wood grubs.

Geology

Zell is, like its neighboring communities, on an existing layer of Posidonia, the ( Lias ) is assigned to the geological Black Jura. The Teilort Pliensbach is eponymous for a sub- layer of the Lias, the so-called Pliensbachian. Fossil finds from the Black Jura can be seen at Urweltmuseum in wood grubs. The municipality is part of the 1979 excavation formed reserve fossils wood grubs.

North of the local part Pliensbach flows the eponymous Pliensbach who joins the Butzbach. Coat of arms

The blazon of the municipal coat of arms of Zell unter Aichelberg is: Under golden, covered with a black deer lying rod main shield in red an armored golden left-arm.

From the early 19th century comes a sheriff 's official stamp that contains the letter Z on two diagonally crossed leafy branches without a shield. The Z is still used in 1930 in an official seal. In 1931, the current coat of arms was included in the official seal. The Linksarm, in which the sword has been omitted for simplicity, represents the local nobility, the lords of the cell. The stag bar represents the Württemberg membership of the place since the 14th century. Because of the local coat of arms no colors have survived, they were freely elected in 1949. Coat of arms and flag were presented on February 19, 1959 by the Home Office. The flag colors of this place are yellow-red.

Structures

In the center of the Martin church is decorated with frescoes from 1400. Namesake of the church is Martin of Tours. The present church was built in its essential parts of the year in 1386. Due to a lightning strike in 1667, the Martin church got its characteristic roof.
