The town of Zell is located east of Regensburg, in a boiler, the coat of a mountain, the Geißberg and cell Müller mountain surround. As an indication of this characteristic geographical location, the municipal coat of arms shows a three- mountain. In the 14th century, the Hofer of Lobenstein built the castle Lobenstein, which was destroyed during the Thirty Years' War and its ruins today reminds us of the importance of the family for the development of the municipality. Therefore, it took over the municipal coat of arms above the three crenellated red rafters from the family crest of the Hofer of Lobenstein.
