Zellige

Zellij (Arabic الزليج, DMG az- Zallīǧ ) is enamelled terracotta tile art that is plastered in pieces in a pattern together.

It is one of the main characteristics of Moroccan architecture, but is also found in other North African and Muslim countries. The geometric mosaics from ceramic are mainly used as ornaments for walls, floors, bathrooms, tables.

The samples used in Zellij are currently of scientific interest in mathematics.
