Zelter-Plakette

History

The history of Zelter Plaque dates back to the 1920s. The open-minded for the needs of amateur music Prussian Minister for Science, Art and Education, Otto Boelitz, donated by Circular in 1922, three artistically designed commemorative sheets as state recognition for amateur choirs occasion of its 50 -, 75 - and 100 - year existence. Appearance and texture

The badge is highly oval, has the dimensions: 16cm (height) x 14 cm (width) and is made of bronze. It shows on its face the portrait of Carl Friedrich Zelter (1758-1832) - founder of the first Liedertafel and Director of the Sing- Akademie zu Berlin and on the back of the German eagle with the inscription: For services to choral singing and folk song.

Vorschlageberechtigung and application procedures

Ceremony practice

Awarded to foreign choirs

The Zelter Plaque can also be awarded to choral societies abroad. The proposals in this regard to be submitted by the Foreign Office on the recommendation of the Committee recommendation. The applications are, however, to apply first, before the local German Embassy or Consulate. These requests are then routed through the Foreign Office to the Federal Minister of the Interior. Others
