Zelus

Zelos (Greek Ζῆλος " zeal " ) in Greek mythology, the personification of the zealous pursuit.

Zelos is the son of the Titan Pallas and Styx. His siblings are Kratos ( "power" ), Bia ( " force" ) and Nike ( "victory" ). They are constant companions of Zeus, this position of honor meted out to them as thanks for their help in the struggle against the Titans ( Titans ).

In Hyginus Mythographus he is listed as a personification of envy. Likewise, in Hesiod in Works and Days, where he appears as a companion to the people of the past, the Iron Age. In a similarly negative context, he appears in an Orphic fragment together with Apate ( " deception " ), where they raise the newborn Aphrodite from the waves.

In later times he was with the Zelotypia, jealousy, equated.
