Žemlovka

Pyre is one in Old Bavaria, Austria, the Czech Republic (as Žemlovka ) and Slovakia (as Žemľovka ) spread pudding. In the southwest of Germany, there is the related food Ofenschlupfer.

There are different variations of the preparation. A very common type is the following: stale rolls are cut and soaked in mixed with eggs milk. The mass is then placed in a greased casserole dish and layer by layer filled with grated apples, cinnamon, sugar, almonds and raisins previously soaked in rum. The last layer must consist of the bread mass. The dish is baked in tube ( oven) over medium heat until golden yellow and topped with a snow cover of stiff whipped egg whites and granulated sugar again.

As Ofenschlupfer the dish is served mostly directly after baking with vanilla sauce.
