Zeno of Sidon

Zeno of Sidon ( ο Ζήνων Σιδώνιος, * ca 150 BC in Sidon, † 70 BC in Athens ) was a Greek philosopher, mathematician and logician.

Zenon is counted among the Spätepikureern. He was a pupil of Apollodorus in the epikureeischen school ( the garden) near Athens, whose leader ( Scholarch ) he was 100-75 BC. During his stay in Greece Cicero heard him there in 79 BC

His work and opinions have become more accurately known by writings of his pupil Philodemus of Gadara, who was found as part of a philosophical library in the Villa of the Papyri at Herculaneum.
