Zepelin

Zepelin is a municipality in the district of Rostock in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern ( Germany ). The community is managed by the Office Biitzow country with headquarters in the city Biitzow.

Geography

The municipality Zepelins between Biitzow and Güstrow is bounded on the south by the river fog, and in the north of the river Warnow. Zepelin is located on Biitzow - Güstrow - Canal (built 1894-1896 ), which runs parallel to the fog. The terrain is flat and reaches near the hamlet Oettelin 29 m above sea level. NN. Zepelin is agricultural.

Quarters are Zepelin, Oettelin and Zepelin expansion. Between 1990 and 2001 the district Oettelin was an independent municipality.

History

1246 emerged the place name Cepelin on for the first time, the place was but already about 100 years earlier founded by German settlers as Angersdorf. It was the eponymous headquarters of the noble family von Zeppelin. The cemetery with the chapel and the pond dating from the 14th century. After large fires end of the 19th century, the exterior Zepelins was more developed. The district Oettelin ( incorporation on 1 August 2001 ) was first mentioned in 1285.
