Zepkow

Zepkow is a municipality in the southwest of the district Mecklenburg Lake District Mecklenburg -Vorpommern. The community is managed by the Office Robel -Müritz based in the city Robel / Müritz.

Geography

The municipality is located Zepkow in the Mecklenburg Lake District Mecklenburg in the south, near the border with Brandenburg. The agricultural community is located on the upper Elde near the headwaters. The hilly area south of Zepkow reaches 90 m above sea level. NN. The only lake within the municipal area is the Demminer lake. In about three kilometers away, are currently the Massower lake and the Mönchsee. The nearest towns are Robel / Müritz and Wittstock / Dosse.

History

In 1285 the original Slavic populated and applied as Angersdorf site first appeared in a document. The country thing ( vassal court ) was at the request of the knights of the castle Wredenhagen (then " Novum Castrum Apply " ) moved to the estate of the Lords of Werle in or Zepkow (presumably to the hillfort grain Horst ). Until the end of the 16th century remained Zepkow the seat of the court of the Office Wredenhagen. The stone church in Zepkow also dates from the 13th century.

For the first time genetically modified potatoes BASF were on April 19, 2010 in Zepkow seven weeks after its approval by the EU Europe grown commercially.

Infrastructure

The cultural center of the village is developed by the Zepkower citizens forge. Furthermore, a new athlete home was built in 1997.
