Zero flag

The zero flag or zero bit (English Zero Flag) is one of the flags in the status register of many arithmetic units, including those of the x86 processors. It indicates whether the result of the operation was equal to 0.

This special case as the result of a calculation is particularly important for the testing of loop conditions and other conditional jumps of importance. This need can be done very efficiently due to their frequent occurrence. By means of the zero bits, may be carried out with minimal effort this test.
