Zerrenthin

Zerrenthin is a municipality in the district of Vorpommern - Greifswald in eastern Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). The municipality is part of the Office of Uecker -Randow - Tal, based in the nearby town of Pasewalk.

Geography

Zerrenthin lies on the northern edge of a Endmoränenbogens that stretches from Pasewalk after Löcknitz between Uecker and Randowtal. North of Zerrenthin begins the flatter area of ​​Ueckermünder Heath. The community is located about seven kilometers east of Pasewalk.

History

Zerrenthin was mentioned as " Sarno Tino " for the first time in 1216 in a document that notes the membership of the church property to Eggesin. Owner Eggesins was at that time the monastery Grobe on Usedom. 150 years later the estate was abandoned by the monastery because of the remote location.

  • The village church Zerrenthin dates from the 13th century. The nave is a stone building, where a wider, rectangular west tower is grown. Extensive remains of a mural cycle are obtained. The church was restored in the early 1990s.
