Zeruiah

Zeruiah is according to the Bible, a sister of King David over Israel and the mother of his commander Joab. Zeruiah father was Jesse. In addition to David, she had six other brothers, Eliab, Abinadab, Shammah, Netanel, Raddai and Ozem. They also had a sister named Abigail. Zeruiah had three sons, Abishai, Joab and Asahel. From Asael is known among other things, that this was very quickly on foot.

Zeruiah is always mentioned when one of their sons occurs in the Bible in action, such as the 1st and 2nd Samuel, 1st Kings and 1 Chronicles. Here, each deviated from the usual mention of the father of a person ( eg, David the son of Jesse ) and instead called the mother (eg, ... and ..., sons of Zeruiah ).
