Zettling until the end of 2014 a municipality with 1572 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in Styria. As part of the municipality of structural reform in Styria it is merged in 2015 with the community Unterpremstätten, the new community will be called market town Unterpremstätten Zettling. This is based on the Styrian community structure reform law - StGsrG.

Geography

Geographical Location

Zettling is located in the district of Graz-Umgebung in the Austrian province of Styria about 15 km south of the state capital Graz. The municipality is located in Graz Basin west of the river Mur.

Expansion of the municipal area

The municipality extends from Graz Airport in the east to Imperial Forest in the west. It is drained by the Laabach from north to south.

The municipality comprises the three villages (in brackets population as of 31 October 2011):

  • Bierbaum ( 633 )
  • Laa ( 495)
  • Zettling (402 )

The municipality comprises the cadastral Bierbaum, Laa and Zettling.

Neighboring communities

History

The local church as an autonomous body created in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to Reichsgau Styria, 1945-1955, she was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.

Policy

Mayor Ingrid Baumhackl (ÖVP ). The council is made up after the elections of 2010 as follows: 7 ÖVP, SPÖ 6, 2 FPÖ.

Coat of arms

The award of the municipality coat of arms came into effect on 1 August 1996. Coat Description: In a golden shield with four forward upward flying golden bees husky blue oblique bar links; the plate edges adorned by free-floating cross flowers in shadow color.

Sports

The kart track Styriakarting is one of two go-kart tracks in Austria, which has been removed from the OSK. It is located directly at the motorway junction Kalsdorf. It was opened in 1996 and has a length of 850m.

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

The proximity to Graz Zettling is very conveniently located and - in particular as regards the individual traffic - connected excellent. The Phyrn motorway ( A9 ) leads to the east by the municipality and is the connection point Kalsdorf (194 ) in 1 km distance. Also the distance to the south motorway (A2) towards Klagenfurt is on the junction Unterpremstätten (188 ) is only about 5 km.

In Zettling there is no railway connection. The nearest train station is in Kalsdorf bei Graz in about 4 km away and provides access to the southern runway. Here provides hourly regional train connections to Graz and Leibnitz.

Graz Airport is approximately 5 km away.
