( Listen? / I ) zevenaar is a Dutch municipality of the province of Gelderland and had on 1 January 2013, according to the CBS 32 401 inhabitants. Its area is about 58 km ² today.

With the municipality reform of 1 January 2005, the northerly community Angerlo was dissolved on the southern bank of the river IJssel with Angerlo and the villages of Giesbeek and Lathum and the peasantry Bahr and Bingerden (a total of about 5,000 inhabitants) and part of the community Zevenaar.

Location and economic

Zevenaar is not far from the river IJssel and from the Rhine in the region Liemers ten kilometers east of Arnhem, on the motorways ( Autosnelweg ) A12 and A18 as well as the railway lines Arnhem - Doetinchem and Arnhem - Oberhausen.

Zevenaar was formerly the border station with change of locomotive and customs controls. International (fast ) trains stop but not anymore in Zevenaar. A direct rail link to Germany, therefore, does not exist.

History

In 1382 the Duchy of Cleves snatched the strategically located village Sevenaer Count of funds. The Klever given to the place that never had more than 1000 inhabitants, in 1487 the city Klever law.
