Zhanang County

Zhanang ( Tib: gra nang rdzong, Tibetan: གྲ་ནང་རྫོང, Dranang Dzong or Chanang ) is a county in the district of Shannan in Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China. It has an area of 2141.92 square kilometers, and according to the 1990 census, 33 291 inhabitants, of whom 33 156 Tibetans and 126 Han Chinese ( census 2000: 35 278 inhabitants).

In Zhanang there are the important monasteries Samye, Dorje Drag and Mindrölling (see " Northern Treasures ").

At the community level, the circuit is composed of two large municipalities and three municipalities. These are (Pinyin / chin. ):
