Zhang Lin (swimmer)

Zhang Lin (张 琳Chinese, Pinyin Zhang Lin, born January 6, 1987 in Beijing) is a Chinese freestyle swimmer.

Career

Zhang starts since 2004 successfully in the elite field. At the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004 he swam over 200 and 400 meters freestyle, but did not have the preliminaries out. In the short course world championships in the same year at Indianapolis he was with the Chinese scales over 4 × 100 meters and 4 × 200 meter freestyle each seventh.

2005 Lin was at the World Championships in Montreal roller 200 and sixth over 1500 meters freestyle. At the national championships, he won on the routes over 200, 400 and 1500 meter freestyle. First international medals he won in 2006. At the Pan Pacific Championships in Victoria the Canadian Chinese won silver and bronze over 400 over 200 meters freestyle. In the Short Course World Championships in Shanghai in 2006 he finished third in the 1500 meter freestyle and fourth track over 400 meters and in the 4 × 200 meter freestyle relay.

Not quite as successfully ran the World Swimming Championships in 2007 in Melbourne. Best result was sixth place over 200 meters freestyle.

The greatest success of his career celebrated Zhang Lin at the 2008 Summer Olympics in his hometown of Beijing. About 400 meters freestyle, he won the silver medal behind the South Korean Park Tae -Hwan. On 29 July 2009, Zhang Lin, submitted to the World Swimming Championships in Rome in the 800 meters freestyle with a time of 07:32,12 min set a new world record.
