Zhangzhou

Zhangzhou (Chinese漳州 市, pinyin Zhangzhou shì ) is the southernmost of the nine prefecture-level cities of Fujian province. It is known in China as the city of daffodils (水仙花Chinese, Pinyin Shuixian hua ). Zhangzhou has a coastline of 680 kilometers in length with many natural deep water harbors. It borders the neighboring Guangdong province in the southwest and to the city of Xiamen in the Northeast. It also has on the situation at the Taiwan Strait access to the Pacific. Tourism, history

In 2002, 33 818 tourists visited the city of Zhangzhou. Main attractions are the Dongshan Island and the Zhao residence. Zhangzhou is home to many overseas Chinese and Taiwanese. A third of the population of Taiwan is originally from Zhangzhou. In addition, the politician Corazon Aquino and Lee Kuan Yew from this region come.

Cultural

In December 2012, the German architect Stephan Braunfels won a competition for the construction of a cultural center of the city. The design is influenced by echoes of the traditional fortifications of the people of Hakka, the Tulou, but without reflecting the fortification.
