Zhetikara

Schitiqara ( Kazakh Жітіқара; Russian Житикара ) is an industrial city in the area Qostanai, Kazakhstan with about 49,008 inhabitants ( 2008). It is close to the Russian border, on the banks of the river Schortandy.

History

The town was founded in 1915 and was granted town rights in 1939.

In Schitiqara the mineral asbestos is sponsored by the company Qostanai minerals.
