Zhivago Duncan

Zhivago Duncan (* 1980 in Terre Haute, United States) is an American artist.

Life

Duncan was born in 1980 the son of a Syrian and a Dane in Terre Haute. Since Duncan's father worked in the tourism industry, Duncan grew up among others in Saudi Arabia, London, Malta, Los Angeles, USA and France. After his graduation he worked as a snowboard instructor and an auto mechanic.

Duncan graduated in 2007 graduated from the BFA Chelsea College of Art and Design in London from. He lives and works in Berlin. His most important exhibition to date was in 2011 to participate in the group exhibition Gesamtkunstwerk: New Art in Germany at the Saatchi Gallery in London.

Work

Duncan works both as a painter and as a sculptor and installation artist. In his large and brightly colored canvas paintings that are inspired by the American pop art and by his own admission of television Trash formats, combining letters and logos with cartoon characters, graffiti, and other elements of street art.

In his installation " Pretentious crap", he developed an apocalyptic vision - in miniature - a destroyed after a disaster deserted world to visit in a glass case, like a biological specimen in the Natural History Museum.
