Zhong Hui

Zhong Hui (Chinese钟 会/钟 会, Pinyin Zhong Hui, W.-G. Chung Hui, * 225, † 264) was a general of the Wei Dynasty during the Three Kingdoms in ancient China. He was also an important philosopher of the so-called Neo - Taoism (玄学/玄学, xuánxué ) and as the son of Zhong Yao, a calligrapher important.

As a scholar he was an excellent connoisseur of the I Ching and the Tao Te Ching.

He led together with Deng Ai to the campaign for the conquest of Shu Han in 263. Although he and Deng Ai held the same rank, he thought he was better than Deng Ai. Therefore, he conspired after the fall of Shu with the former Shu- Jiang Wei commander Deng Ai against, but the conspiracy burst and he was executed.
