ZhoÅ™ (Brno-Country District)

Zhoř ( German Shorsch, formerly Zhorz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located nine kilometers north-east of Tišnov and belongs to Okres Brno- venkov.

Geography

Zhoř located in the Sýkořská pahorkatina, a subunit of Nedvědička highlands in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands at the southern border of the nature park Lysicko. The village is situated on the left bank of the creek Lubě, which rises a mile north-west. West of Zhoř extends the area of ​​the Park Svratecká hornatina. To the east the valley of the creek is Krížovský creek with a storage pond. In the North the Kravi hlava ( 566 m), northeast of the Na Vrších (506 m ) and southwest of the Velka hora ( 558 m).

History

The first written mention of the village was in in 1348.

After the abolition of patrimonial Zhoř formed in 1850 a part of the community Rašov - Zhoř in the Brno district, judicial district Tischnowitz. 1880 Zhoř had 117 inhabitants, the end of 1890 there were 109 Since 1896, belonged to the newly formed district Zhoř Tischnowitz.
