Zhou Chunxiu

Zhou Chunxiu (Chinese周春秀, Pinyin Zhou Chunxiu; * November 15, 1978 in Jiangsu) is a Chinese long-distance runner who specializes in the marathon.

In 2003, she won at the premiere of Xiamen Marathon and was second at the Beijing Marathon. The following year, she qualified with a win in Xiamen for the marathon in the Olympic Games in Athens, where she finished in 33rd place. In the World Half Marathon Championships in New Delhi it was Twelfth and Second in Beijing again.

In 2005 she won the Seoul International Marathon and defended it its title in Xiamen. In a marathon, the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 2005, she was fifth in Beijing and again in second.

In 2006, she won, like last year, the Seoul International Marathon and set it with a 2:19:51 course record. In a marathon, the Asian Games in Doha, she won gold. The following year, she won the London Marathon in 2:20:38 and won at the World Athletics Championships in Osaka residue with eight seconds on Catherine Ndereba and ten seconds ahead of Reiko Tosa the silver medal.

In 2008, she presented at the Yangzhou Jianzhen Half Marathon a course record. At the Olympic Games in Beijing her again succeeded in winning a medal. This time she came behind the winner Constantina Tomescu of Romania and Catherine Ndereba from Kenya to the bronze medal.

In 2009 she was twelfth in London and each fourth at the World Championships in Berlin and at the Beijing Marathon. The following year, she finished second in Seoul and defended at the Asian Games in Guangzhou its title.

Zhou Chunxiu is 1,60 m tall and weighs 46 kg.
