Zhouzhuang

Zhouzhuang (Chinese周庄镇, Pinyin Zhouzhuang Zhen ) is a large village of the district-free city of Kunshan in Jiangsu Province, China. Zhouzhuang has an area of ​​36.05 km ² and 30,367 inhabitants ( end of 2009).

Zhouzhuang is one of the most well-known " water towns " China and, accordingly, the destination of many tourists. The historic core is intersected by canals and numerous old buildings can be visited. Zhouzhuang is called the "Venice of the East" also ( like some other " water towns " in the region).
