Zhu Rongji

Zhu Rongji (Chinese朱镕基/朱镕基, Pinyin Zhu Rongji, W.-G. Chu Jung- chi, [ t͡ʂú ʐʊ̌ŋt͡ɕí ]; born October 20, 1928 in Changsha, Hunan Province, China) is a Chinese politician.

Life

Zhu Rongji is a member of the Communist Party of China since 1949. He studied from 1947 to 1951 at Tsinghua University in Beijing.

From 1987 to 1991 he was mayor of the city of Shanghai and recommended thereby for higher tasks. He was Vice - Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, in 1998 finally the Prime Minister in 1992. He also stood from 1993 to 1995 the Chinese central bank (People's Bank of China) serving as the president.

In 2003, Zhu Rongji, for reasons of age, the premiership from, and was succeeded by Wen Jiabao.

Others

Zhu Rongji is a direct descendant of the Chinese Emperor Hongwu (1328-1398), the 1368 founded the Ming Dynasty.
