Zhu Shilin

Zhu Shilin (Chinese朱石麟, Pinyin Zhū Shilin; born July 27, 1899 in Taicang, Jiangsu, † January 5, 1967 in Hong Kong ) was a Chinese film director and screenwriter. Between 1930 and 1964 he made at least 80 films.

He began his career in 1930 in Shanghai at the Lianhua Film Society. There he turned, among others, together with Luo Guo feng Mingyou (1935 ), in the play Li Lili, Ruan Lingyu and Zheng Junli in the lead roles.

After the war, Zhu went to Hong Kong and founded together with his colleagues also emigrated Fei Mu, the film company Longma. His two films Qing gong mi shi ( Sorrows of the Forbidden City ) (1948 ), a historical film, and Zhong qiu yue ( Moon Festival ) ( 1953) films were chosen in 2005 among the 100 best Chinese.
