Ziano Piacentino

Ziano Piacentino is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 2647 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Piacenza in Emilia -Romagna. The municipality is situated approximately 33 km south-southwest of Piacenza in the Val Tidone between the river and Gualdora Bardonezza and directly borders the province of Pavia ( Lombardy ).

History

The district Vicobarone is believed to have originated in the 9th century. Ziano Piacentino refers to the foundation of the Castrum de Zillianum in the year 1029. Situated on the border of Pavia, the castle was subject to more wars.

Economy

The area around Ziano Piacentino is a large vineyard, in particular the following grape produces: Malvasia, Bonarda, Ortrugo, Barbera and Gutturnio.
