Žiča (Kraljevo)

Žiča (Cyrillic: Жича ) is a village in Serbia. On the edge of the village is the medieval Serbian orthodox monastery Žiča. Until the early 1990s of the 20th century was called the village Kruševica. The village is also mentioned as a city, but this is not the official status of the settlement. Žiča is located south of the city of Kraljevo.

Geography and population

The village lies in the Opština Kraljevo, Raška in the Okrug. Žiča had in the census 2002 3882 inhabitants, while there were 1991 3740 inhabitants. After the last three population statistics, the population of Žiča rising. The people make the majority of Orthodox Serbs and a minority, also Orthodox Montenegrins. In addition, in the village live eight Orthodox Macedonians, five Catholic Croats, three Yugoslavs, a Catholic Slovene, a Catholic Czech and two Slavic Muslims.

The village consists of 1272 households. Žiča is close to the banks of the Ibar.
