Zichow

Zichow is a municipality in the district Uckermark in Brandenburg ( Germany ). It belongs to the Office Gramzow. The municipality consists of the villages Fredersdorf, Golm and Zichow and the community part Lindenweg settlement.

Geography

The Uckermark community Zichow between cities Prenzlau, Schwedt / Oder and Angermuende is in the ground moraine which rises between the glacial valleys of Ucker, catfish and Randow. For lakes in the area Zichows include extensive meadows in Randowbruch and Welsebruch and the nature reserve Zichower forest. History

The municipality was created on 31 December 2001 from the merger of the previously independent municipalities Fredersdorf, Golm and Zichow.

District Zichow

In the formerly Slavic village conditioning (local name originally Tzikow, Czichow, later Ziechow ) was built the castle Zichow during the German colonization in the 13th century. 1288 emerged the place the first time in a deed of assignment of the monastery in Gramzow.
