The Ziegeleisee is a brick pond in the northwest of Berlin. It is located in the district of Berlin Luebars the district Reinigendorf.

History

As early as the Bronze Age - 3,000 years ago - was loam and clay mined in this area in order to produce pots and jugs. In 1840 the Kühnsche brickyard, which was expanded in the sixties of the 19th century to a sound and Zementwarenfabrik arose. After the bankruptcy of 1880, the factory building from 1883 to the 1960s as a day - and -garden " Sea Castle " with dance hall and bowling alley was used. Today, from the factory to find no trace.

Another brick was built in 1854. It was advanced and had a greater and more effective ring furnace in which a day up to 12,000 bricks were fired. The brickyard was in operation until 1924. My 72 m high chimney was blown up in 1932. A time belonging to the factory building is still standing in Beneke Dorff road 115, which is named after the former factory owner Franz Ulrich von Beneke Dorff.
