Zielebach

Zielebach is a municipality in the administrative district of Emmental in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

Geography

Zielebach is located on 460 m above sea level. M., 6 km south-southeast of the town of Solothurn (air line). The village extends into the flat alluvial plain of the river Emme, east of the channelized river course, the Swiss Plateau.

The area of ​​1.9 km ² large municipality area includes a completely flat section of the Bernese Mittelland. The western boundary of the municipality is the Emme, which runs channeled and straightened along the eastern foot of the Altis Mountain, a spur of the Molassehöhen of Bucheggberg here. From the Emme, the communal land extends eastward across the groundwater- rich level with the forest areas of the Schachen and the high forest to the clearing of Zielebach. In Obergerlafingenstrasse forest in the southeast of the area is 467 m above sea level. M. reached the highest point of Zielebach. From the municipality surface 1997 7 % was attributable to settlements, 49 % of forest and shrubs, 42 % to agriculture and slightly more than 2% was unproductive land.

Neighboring communities of Zielebach are Utzenstorf, Wiler bei Utzenstorf and Bätterkinden in the canton of Bern and Biberist, Gerlafingen and Obergerlafingenstrasse in the canton of Solothurn.

Population

With 326 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Zielebach one of the small communities of the Canton of Bern. Of the residents 98.2 % are German, 1.2 % Italian-speaking and 0.3 % speak Polish (as of 2000). The population of Zielebach amounted in 1850 to 180 residents in 1900 to 217 inhabitants. During the 20th century, the population fluctuated always in the range between 200 and 250 people. Since 1980 (217 inhabitants) a significant population increase was recorded. The settlement area of Zielebach has grown together seamlessly with that of Obergerlafingenstrasse.

Economy

Zielebach was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. Even today, agriculture, animal husbandry and forestry have an important place in the economic structure of the working population in the village. Some other jobs are in the local retail industry and the services available, including in an establishment of the transport industry. In recent decades, the village has developed into a residential community. Most workers are therefore commuters who work mainly in the larger towns of the area and agglomeration in Solothurn.

Traffic

The community is located off of the larger passage axes, but is easily accessible from Gerlafingen. The nearest links to the A1 ( Bern- Zurich ) is located approximately 4 km from the town center. Since December 2008 Zielebach has two separate bus stops. One is located in the village center and the other at the community house. The bus provides the connection after Gerlafingen, Biberist, Solothurn and until after Bellach.

History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1274 under the name of target Ibach; of 1319 the spelling Zielebach is preserved. The name goes back to the Old High German personal name Ziolo or Cielo and accordingly is of the Bach Ziolo / Cielo.

In the Middle Ages Zielebach belonged to the lords of Green Mountain. Since 1341 the monastery of Sankt Urban had rich land in the village. Shortly after 1400 came Zielebach under Bernese superiority, domination Landshut and in the sphere of influence of the Bailiff's cheeks, which exercised high justice. With the sale of the reign of Landshut in 1514 the village came under the direct rule of the Bernese and the bailiwick of Landshut has been assigned.

After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798 ) Zielebach belonged during the Helvetic Republic to the district of Burgdorf and from 1803 to Oberamt Mrs. Fountain, received the status of an office district with the new cantonal constitution of 1831. Zielebach does not have its own church, it belongs to the parish Utzenstorf.
