Zieskensee

The Zieskensee (also called Ziese ) is a lake in the north-east of the county Mecklenburg Lake District within the municipal area of Kuckssee in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Near the shores lies the nature reserve Kuckssee and Lapitzer lake, which almost seamlessly connects to the bird sanctuary of Malliner lake.

The Zieskensee is 800 meters long, up to 250 meters wide and about eleven feet deep at its deepest point, otherwise is the average depth of four to six meters. As the lake Ziese has on its west bank of a sandy stretch of beach about 50 meters in length.

The lake shore is hilly and is in the west, bordered on the so-called robber mountain, from a small forested area of pine and larch, otherwise surrounds the lake, a narrow belt of deciduous trees such as alders, willows and poplars, isolated oaks. In the west, the mountain ranges reach 68.3 m above sea level with the robber mountain. NHN, the east with the Kukuksberg up to 73.8 meters.

The lake is a glacial Rinnensee. It was created by the glaciers of the Pomeranian stage of the Weichselian.
