Zignago

Zignago ( in Ligurian: Zignego ) is a municipality with 542 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) in the Italian region of Liguria. The seat of the local government is located in the village of Pieve di Zignago. Politically, the community belongs to the province of La Spezia.

Geography

The community Zignago consists of several small settlements in the upper part of the Val di Vara. The local office is situated in Pieve di Zignago at an altitude of 632 meters above sea level. In the area of the district Valgiungata located at an altitude of 1047 meters, the Val del Rastrello, which is located in the hills of the Ligurian Apennines, between the Val di Vara and the Val di Magra. Here was also the administrative boundary between the Republic of Genoa and the Grand Duchy of Tuscany.

Zignago belongs to the Comunità Montana dell'Alta Val di Vara.
