Zile is a town in the Turkish province of Tokat with about 35,000 inhabitants.

Your ancient name was Zela. Here the Roman general Gaius Julius Caesar defeated the Bosporan king Pharnakes II on May 20, in 47 BC ( according to the Julian Calendar ) in a four hour battle and sent the known up to now advertising strong message of victory " Veni vidi vici " ( " I came, saw, conquered " ) to Rome.
