Zinc sulfate ( ZnSO4 ) is the zinc salt of sulfuric acid ( trivial name: sulphate of zinc, white vitriol, copper smoke, white Galitzenstein, Augenstein, as a mineral: Goslarit ). It forms colorless crystals in the anhydrous form it is a white powder.

Properties

Zinc sulfate decomposes at temperatures above 680 ° C. Above 930 ° C remains pure zinc oxide.

It crystallizes from its aqueous solutions as zinc vitriol in colorless, rhombic crystals with seven molecules of water ( ZnSO4 · 7 H2O) ( heptahydrate ).
