The term zincates stands for the substance group of theoretical oxo and Hydroxosäuren the chemical element zinc. These are formed on dissolution of the amphoteric zinc hydroxide in an excess of alkali metal hydroxide (eg sodium hydroxide). Measurable is the corresponding to the acids anions.
