Rhone- nerds ( Zingel asper ) in the Loue

The Rhone- nerds ( Zingel asper ), called in Switzerland apron or Roi du Doubs, is a fish of the family of the Real perch ( Percidae ).

Description

The 15 to 22 -inch-long fish has a slender and spindle-shaped body like all spindle perch. The mouth is inferior, the caudal peduncle shorter than in the close to him nerd. The light-brown to gray color shows three irregular dark bars on the rear body. The belly is white in color.

Occurrence

The occurrence is limited to the French and Swiss Rhone basin. Way of life

The daytime sluggish Rhone- nerd is exclusively nocturnal active. He lives at the bottom in waters of 30 to 80 centimeters deep with moderate flow and feeds on benthic animals of all kinds spawning season is from March to April. The short-lived species reaches an age of approximately 3.5 years.
