The Zipser Berg is a 552 m above sea level. NN high hill of the Franconian Alb in the city of Pegnitz near Bayreuth, Bavaria ( Germany ).

Geographical location

The Zipser Berg is located in the Franconian Switzerland Nature Park Veldenstein Forest on the eastern edge of the Franconian Switzerland, the northern part of the Franconian Alb. It is located between the main town of Pegnitz in the Southwest and its village-like district Zips in the Northeast.

The Zipser Berg is particularly forested on its northwest flank; its vertical layers are used for agriculture. Through the valley north of the mountain flows located in east-west direction of the Zipser Mühlbach as an eastern tributary of the Fichtenohe that passes through the mountain west. Both rivers run in the region of the mountain along a common portion of the federal highways 2 and 85

On the Zipser Berg is since 1975 the airfield Pegnitz Zipser Berg. On the west flank of the mountain, the northern district Pegnitzer Rosenhof, there is the Erzhalden locust, a small plateau with erstwhile John Shaft, which was closed in 1967. From the mountain an impressive 360 - degree panorama can be enjoyed.
