ZIS-101

The ZIS -101 was a limousine manufacturer SIS ( Zavod imeni Stalina, German: work called Stalin, today Zavod imeni Lichatschowa ). The ZIS -101 was introduced 1936/37, and was equipped with an eight-cylinder engine with 5766 cc capacity, which developed 90 hp and reached a top speed of 115 km / h. As power transmission was a three -speed automatic transmission with torque converter.

The car was a copy of the Packard and Buick designs of those years because although dictator Stalin fought the U.S. as the main imperialist enemy, but was a great admirer of American vehicles.

Between 1936 and 1941 8752 vehicles were produced, some of them were convertibles (CIS -102 ), some station wagons, which were used as ambulance because there were no minibuses of Soviet production.

Production stopped in 1941. Successor was the ZIS -110, whose production but only in 1946, ie after the end of World War II, began.
