Zitter Forest

The Zitterwald is a maximum of 692 m above sea level. NN high Eifel landscape in the German -Belgian border area in the district of Euskirchen (Nordrhein-Westfalen ), and in the province of Liège ( Wallonia ).

The Aspen Forest is located in the northern Eifel between Hellenthal (north), Dahlem (east ) and its community part Kronenburg (south ) and the Belgian municipality Büllingen (west). The Zitterwald is part of the Natural Park Venn- Eifel. In the north of the Eifel National Park borders the Zitterwald, the south Kyll forms the border with the Schnee Eifel.

In the sparsely populated and predominantly forested plateau of the dither forest 500-692 m above sea level. NN are the headwaters of olefin, Urft and Kyll. Its highest point is located at the White Stone ( 692 m; ski with ) southwest of Udenbreth; to the other elevations of the dither Forest include Bärbel Cross ( 662.8 m), chicken height ( 659.9 m), Kamberg ( 637.8 m).

The Bright Thaler villages and settlements - as Giescheid, Miescheid, Neuhaus, Ramscheid and Udenbreth - in the northern part of the dither Forest are among the highest church villages in the Rhineland.

The Aspen Forest is one of the last areas of distribution of the European wildcat in Germany.

In Zitterwald is the transmission tower Eifel Bärbel cross.
