Ziya DoÄŸan

Ziyaettin Doğan ( born January 1, 1961 in Gümüşhane ) is a former Turkish football player and current football coach.

Playing career

Doğan played in the youth of Beşiktaş Istanbul. In 1978 he was appointed to the senior team. In the 1981/82 season, the midfielder scored two goals on the final day and paved the way for the title. Doğan played in eight years, 194 games and scored 38 goals for the black and whites. He then played two years for MKE Ankaragucu, Kocaelispor and a season for Zeytinburnuspor. At the end of the 1992/93 season he finished his career as a player.

Coaching career

Doğan began his coaching career in 1993 at Istanbulspor; there he spent six years working as an assistant coach. In 1999 he moved to Adanaspor and was head coach. Five games left in the season the team was still on the relegation zone; he saved the team and it was the 9th Place. He returned to Istanbulspor back, but he went after one year to his former club Beşiktaş Istanbul, where he was assistant coach Nevio Scala of. After a brief involvement with Konyaspor Doğan joined Malatyaspor. The at that time was the relegation zone. The season 2001/ 02 has been backed up with a 14th place. The following season, he managed to qualify in fifth for the UEFA Cup against Fenerbahce with the team. In 2004 he took over Trabzonspor. There he won the Turkish Cup his first title as a coach. There, he worked at Gençlerbirliği Ankara, Malatyaspor and Trabzonspor.

Since July 2009 he has been manager of Diyarbakirspor.
