Ziya Pasha

Ziya Pasha whose real name was Abdul Hamid Ziyaeddin (* 1825 or 1829 Istanbul, † May 17, 1880 in Adana) was an Ottoman writer and translator. It belongs next to İbrahim Şinasi Namik Kemal and the major authors of the Tanzimatepoche.

He held various offices in the Ottoman state. From 1865 he was a leading member of the Young Ottomans. In 1867 he went together with Namik Kemal to Paris and London and there was a newspaper called Hurriyet: out ( dt freedom ).

After his return tenures followed as governor of Cyprus, Amasya, Konya, Aleppo and Adana last.
