Zlín Z 42

The Czechoslovakian Zlin Z -42 is the manufacturer Zlín a multi-purpose aircraft. Use is it as a school, travel, and, due to its aerobatic capability, as sports plane. It is equipped with a hook on the tail, so that it can also be used as a tow plane for gliders.

History

The Z -42 was developed from the previous model Z -41 and first flew on October 17, 1967 ( ID OK -41). The first production version was built in 1970 and owned as driving a 132.4 -kW fuel injected engine M- 137A and a rigid wooden propeller. Later found an adjustable at the bottom V -310 Metal Propeller use.

For the Western market was published in 1971, the Z- 42L ( identifier OK -72) with a 118 kW engine Lycoming AIO -320- B1B engine and Hartzelluftschraube.

1975 appeared the improved Z- 42M with M- 137AZ drive and Verstelluftschraube V- 503A metal, recognizable by the false keel in front of the tail. Through reconstruction of Z- 42 of the first series on Z- 42M - level Z- 42MU with reinforced structure and Vorkiel was on the fin. Last variant was the Z- 42D.

From the Z -42 originated around 250 specimens that were delivered, inter alia, in the GDR ( 65 pieces ), where they found in the GST to the Pilot Schools Schoenhagen and Jahn village for courier purposes and as a training aircraft for future military pilots use.

From the Z- 42, the four-seat liaison aircraft Z -43 was born. Projects that were not realized, were the single-seat aerobatic aircraft Z- 44 and Z -45 with modified wings. The twin-engine passenger aircraft Z -46 was also not built.

The only German aerobatic team "Black Birds" uses this type of aircraft.
