The basin of the lake was created by Zmulner Toteismasse from the branch of a glacier that retreated in a westerly direction Glantal. The lake is located in a 40 hectare nature reserve in the midst agriculturally intensively used cropland. It drains to the northern Glan.
Through the fish water owners are the following types, secured partly by stocking, reported:
- Noble crayfish (Astacus astacus )
- Pike (Esox lucius)
- Catfish ( Silurus glanis )
- Carp ( Cyprinus carpio, with natural reproduction )
- Roach ( Rutilus rutilus )
- Rudd ( Scardinius erythrophthalmus )
- Tench ( Tinca tinca, busy)
- Perch (Perca fluviatilis)
- Zander ( Sander lucioperca )
