Zob Ahan Isfahan (Persian باشگاه فوتبال ذوب آهن ) is an Iranian football club based in Isfahan.

History

Zob Ahan Football Club 1969 by Mohammad Ali Taghizadeh Farahmand was founded. Owner and main sponsor of the club is the local steel company Esfahan Steel Company. Zob Ahan applies since inception as the rich club of Isfahan. The team undertook at once 14 players from local rivals Sepahan Isfahan, which formed the backbone of the first team. In the season 1973/1974 the club played for the first time in the highest Iranian league ( Takht Jamshid Cup). Zob Ahan was always top notch with the exception of the season 1994 /1995.

His greatest success of the club in the national cup competition, the Hazfi Cup, which he won in 2003 and 2009. In the championship Zob Ahan finished second in the 2008/ 09 season on points with champions Esteghlal in second place. He achieved his greatest international success of the club in 2010 by reaching the final of the Asian Champions League, which was, however, lost to the South Korean representative Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma.
