Zoltán Göncz

Zoltán Göncz [ Zolta ː n ɡønts ] ( born July 23, 1958 in Budapest) is a Hungarian composer and musicologist.

Zoltán Göncz studied at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music and received his diploma in 1980. Between 1983 and 1997 he worked as a music editor of the National Philharmonic from 1997 to 2008 as the chief editor of the music ensembles of the Hungarian Radio. Since 2008 he works at the Theological College John Wesley.

In his compositions he often uses archaic forms ( canon, passacaglia ) and complex, speculative structures.

Awards

Göncz 1994 and 2006 awarded the Artisjus price. For his achievements in the international Bach research and for his book Bach testamentuma he was awarded the 2009 Order of Merit of the Hungarian Republic in silver.
