Zoltán Kocsis

Zoltán Kocsis [ Zolta ː n koʧiʃ ] (* May 30, 1952 in Budapest) is a Hungarian pianist, composer and conductor.

Life

Zoltán Kocsis began his musical education at the age of five years. From 1963, he studied piano and composition at the Béla Bartók Conservatory, from 1968 he was at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music student of Pál Kadosa and Ferenc Rados.

In 1970 he made ​​his international debut as a pianist and entered into the next 25 years with many famous orchestras including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Dresden Staatskapelle, the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Philharmonia Orchestra and the Vienna Philharmonic.

In recent years he has often worked as a conductor, especially at the Budapest Festival Orchestra and the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, where he is currently music director.
