Zonta International

Zonta International is an international service club of professional women who have committed themselves to the service of women. The members of Zonta should be women who work independently or in a position of responsibility.

The aim of this international association is to improve the position of women in the political, legal, economic and professional field. The Confederation of Zonta Clubs was founded on November 8, 1919 in Buffalo NY. Zonta The name comes from the Lakota, a language of the Sioux family and means something like honorable and credible act. The headquarters of the Zonta International is located in Chicago, Illinois. Zonta has over 30,000 members in 67 countries.

Member can only be who is invited by a member to do so.

In Europe, the first club in Vienna in 1931, was founded. The first Zonta Club in Germany was founded in 1931 in Hamburg. Today there are 128 nationwide Zonta clubs with approximately 4,600 members. In Austria there are currently 13 Zonta clubs.
