ZooParc de Beauval

The ZooParc de Beauval is one of the most important zoological gardens in France. It is located near the town of Saint- Aignan in the department of Loir -et- Cher. Covering an area of 30 acres about 5700 animals are shown. Founder and director of the zoo is Françoise Delord.

History

1980s

The ZooParc de Beauval was founded in 1980 as a bird sanctuary. 1989 were added first big cats and monkeys.

1990s

Since 1991, the zoo since 1999 holding white tigers, white lions also. Significant extensions of this period was the construction of the first tropical greenhouses, a vivarium and an aquarium as well as great facilities for sea lions, manatees and an African savannah landscape ( three hectares ).

2000s

In Australia House and Koalas are shown. The expansion area of ​​the zoo includes a five -acre open space for African elephants. A " South American lowlands " has amongst Tapirs, capybaras and Maras.

2010s

It was an " Asian plains " (eg for rhinos, tapirs, barking deer and Axishirsche ) was established. Furthermore, there was a three -acre landscape " On the heights of China" added. There are two giant pandas are shown since 2012.

On 22 July 2012, a baby elephant was born.

Facilities and attractions

  • In addition to those already mentioned, generous open spaces include to mention four tropical greenhouses ( aviary complex for gorillas and manatees, ape house with Vivarium and Australia - house). Furthermore, one of the largest penguin resorts in Europe is available.
  • During the season several times a one-hour daily shows ( spectacles ) of seals and sea lions place in a display tanks and birds of prey in free flight.
  • Also according to an agreed schedule are available at designated enclosures 15-minute expert lectures on the featured animals ( in French), often associated with feedings. These programs are called animations.

  • The ZooParc de Beauval was conducted at Forbes Traveler in the list of 15 best zoos in the world.
  • The zoo is a member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria and the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
  • 2013 was the Zoo for the second time in a row the award for Best zoo in Europe in its size category.
