Zoot Allures

Zoot Allures is an album by Frank Zappa, which was first published in 1976. It was Zappa's only album, released on Warner Bros. Records. Because of a legal dispute with his former manager Herb Cohen, his contract had been temporarily transferred to Warner Bros. Records with discreet. The title is a pun alors with the French expression Zut! ( corresponding translation: " What a bummer but also " ).

The album was originally planned as a double LP. For unknown reasons Zappa arranged the album and shortened the list of titles included. An edited for the magazine Circus test pressing of the album contained a different track list with the pieces Sleep Dirt, The Ocean Is the Ultimate Solution, Filthy Habits and Night of the Iron Sausage, but without Wind Up Workin ' in a Gas Station and Zoot Allures. The pieces Zoot Allures, The Torture Never Stops and Black Napkins were later characteristic pieces in Zappa's live repertoire.
