Zoran Janković (politician)

Zoran Janković ( born January 1, 1953 in Saraorci, Yugoslavia, now the municipality of Smederevo, Serbia) is a Slovenian manager and politician.

Life

After studying at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Ljubljana, he was a manager in the retail chain Mercator. In 2006 he successfully ran as an independent candidate for the office of mayor of Ljubljana. At the municipal election in 2010 he was confirmed in office.

In the early parliamentary election on December 4, 2011, he came with had been started two months earlier party Lista Zorana Jankovića - to which is classified on the political spectrum as a center-left - Pozitivna Slovenija ( Positive Slovenia Zoran Janković List ). This immediately became the strongest force in parliament, reaching 28.5 % of the vote. Also Janković himself won a seat in parliament. However, not managed to form a coalition government, so Janez Janša, President of the Slovenian Democratic Party was runner-up (SDS ), elected prime minister of a center- right coalition with four smaller parties on 28 January 2012.

In the election in March 2012, Janković was re- elected to the office of the mayor of Ljubljana and took office on 11 April 2012.
